What We Do

We Work with the Team as a System

TDC believes that a team is not simply a machine with replaceable parts. It is a living, dynamic system. It has a unique personality and temperament, moods and vision. It is a culture with both spoken and unspoken rules and values.

The system itself exerts tremendous influence on what gets done and how it gets done. Team members know instinctively, how things are done around here. As such, the team needs to be coached as a system — a living entity that has a life apart from the individual personalities and their interrelationships. This is where the leverage is for team performance.

Mindset — We create a mindset that takes the focus off of individual team members’ relationships and shifts it to the team as a whole, to what we call the Third Entity™ which is the team.

Skillset — We introduce a team skillset that provides your team members with the essential disciplines necessary to be a fully engaged, sustainable team.

Outcome — The collective, generative power of the team is released.

We Work with a Proven, State-of-the-Art Team Diagnostic Model and Assessment Instrument

The model and diagnostic assessment are based on research that shows that most successful teams have the means in place to take productive action and to build effective relationships that motivate and sustain the action. Correspondingly, the Team Diagnostic model is built on two fundamental axes: factors that optimize productivity and factors that promote positivity (and neutralize negativity). The Team Diagnostic model defines seven productivity factors and seven positivity factors.

The seven team strengths that affect productivity are:

  • Goals and strategies
  • Alignment — a sense of common missions and purpose
  • Accountability
  • Resources
  • Decision making
  • Proactivity
  • Team leadership
  • The seven team strengths that affect positivity are:

  • Optimism
  • Trust
  • Respect
  • Communication
  • Constructive interaction
  • Camaraderie
  • Values diversity/Deep Democracy
  • This constellation of strengths provides a complete picture for high-performing teams.

Next, we introduce you to the Organizational and Systems Relationships Coaching methodology, which takes you and your team through a series of experiential exercises that reveal the dynamics of your team’s system and provide techniques to develop the team into a healthy, high-performing system.
